August 2024 marked a vibrant and memorable chapter in my journey as a maker and volunteer. As part of the Fab Academy community, I had the privilege to contribute to the Fab Academy 2024 Graduation Event hosted locally at Super Fab Lab Kochi .

Although the official global graduation ceremony took place at Fab Lab Puebla in Mexico , we decided to bring the celebration home with a Mexico-themed event at our very own Super Fab Lab Kochi. The aim was to mirror the energy, creativity, and spirit of the global Fab community—and we did just that.

As an Event Design Volunteer , I was deeply involved in crafting one of the event’s most iconic visual elements— the Graduation Cubes .

Each cube represented a letter from the word "GRADUATION" , standing tall in front of the stage as a powerful and festive centerpiece.

Here's what went into the process:

✅ Conceptualized and designed the cubes to resonate with the Mexican theme—bold, colorful, and celebratory.

✅ Used eco-friendly cardboard to stay true to Fab Lab’s sustainable values.

✅ Utilized the Zund digital cutter to precisely cut the designs, ensuring a clean finish and structural accuracy.

✅ Personally oversaw the assembly and installation of the cubes at the event venue, ensuring they aligned seamlessly with the overall aesthetic.

What made this experience so fulfilling was the sense of global unity it created. Even though we were miles away from the main stage in Puebla, the vibe at Super Fab Lab Kochi was no less electric.

The space buzzed with creativity, collaboration, and joy as we celebrated the accomplishments of our peers who completed the rigorous Fab Academy program.
